Broom have specialised in the production Aft Cabin Cruisers since their conception in 1898. Today they are still owned and managed by the Broom Family.. The main advantage of owning an Aft Cabin craft is that it makes full use of the spacious full beam width, providing a large cabin with walk around 'island berth' and en-suite facilities, along with built in, full length wardrobes, dressing tables & bedside cabinets. Locating the Saloon, Galley & Dinette between the Aft & Forward cabins, means that the family and friends can enjoy very private and separate zones. Another advantage of Aft Cabin Cruisers is that these craft are fitted with an upper helm position. From this position the helmsman has excellent visibility with a full all round deck view and easy access to mooring cleats. Also, from this position it is re-assuring to know that the crew can be located anywhere whilst on deck.

The Broom group provides a unique and most comprehensive service to boat owners. The facilities include boat building, new and used boat sales, refurbishment, maintenance, service, moorings, upholstery, cover making and stainless steel fabrication. Some owners have started their boating by hiring a Broom boat, gone on to purchase a new or used Broom, have taken advantage of the service facilities provided at Brundall and eventually sold the boat via Broom's brokerage service. In some cases boats built by Broom are handed down from one generation to the next and are still serviced and maintained by Broom. This applies particularly to wooden boats built in earlier years. Broom are based on the River Yare, the largest of the Broadland rivers. There is direct access to the sea with no locks or fixed bridges. Continuous development of the Brundall site has ensured Broom can provide excellent service facilities.
Aqua fibre Mouldings Ltd., Broom's associate company, are well known for their GRP moulding capabilities, producing not only all moulding requirements for the Broom range but also their own extensive range of charter boats.
Aqua fibre offer a huge range of over 30 different models each designed to suit specific local conditions and requirements. For example, the company offer a range of low wash air-draft cruisers suitable for the particular restrictions on the Norfolk Broads but also a wide beam dual steering craft for the more open waterways of the Shannon and Erne in Ireland and the French and Dutch canals. What is less known is Aqua fibre’s capacity for developing new models. Nearly half of the company's Rackheath factory is given over to the highly skilled manufacture of hull and superstructure plugs and mould tools.
Broom have recently created a new division to improve and extend their stainless steel fabrication facility by acquiring the well respected business of G H Fabrications, formerly based at Rackheath near Norwich. G H Fabrications is a successful stainless steel fabricating business specialising in the production of a wide range of items for the marine industry. They have a strong customer base supplying the leading boat companies in Norfolk and Suffolk. Broom have created new factory space for this division which incorporates their own team of fabricators.
